Random Pictures/Updates

Just catching up -

Laying in bed, cuddling with the girls - I look over and see that they are holding hands - too cute!  The girls love each other so much - not to be confused with the fact that they still fight like sisters at time, but they really are too cute together!
We converted the crib into a toddler bed for Paisley at the beginning of February.  We never had to do this with Emery, but felt it was time with Paisley since she climbed out of her crib and fell on the floor during her nap time - crazy kid!  It's been a few weeks and the funny thing is that she never gets herself out of her bed.  She will climb in herself, but when she wakes up and is ready to get up, she still calls for Ivan or I.  I guess it's a win-win for us!  I can't believe how big she is getting .. sad!
Paisley would go through about 35 outfit changes/day if we let her.  99% of the time, she dresses up in Emery's clothes.  If I could just get her to put them all away where she got them, I probably wouldn't care.  But, clothes are usually all throughout the house and when she cleans them up, she puts them all into the dirty clothes hamper - causing a ton of unnecessary laundry for me ..
I got daring and took the girls to a Dr appt with me.  They were really good and behaved well, thank goodness.  So cute!
This was from the beginning of February.  Emery was sick with a cold and had spent most of the day in our bed.  Apparently, at one time when she was awake, she was playing with silly putty.  Then she fell asleep and the silly putty ended up in her hair.  Not a good thing!  As soon as we saw it, my heart stopped, thinking I was going to have to cut her hair.  I never said it to Emery, but I think she knew, hence the look on her face.  Oh, she was also mad that I waited to try to get it out while I took a picture.
Lucky for us, we have google.  I googled how to get silly putty out of hair, and it said to try baby oil.  After just a few minutes and just a little baby oil, it was out of her hair.  Whew, we got lucky on this one!
Paisley just being her cute little self!
Another outfit creation by Paisley ..
We took the girls bowling one Sunday afternoon.  We all had a great time ..
Can you guess who picked the outfit??
Paisley's first experience at Fun Dip - we won't however, mention that it was blue and she just may have opened it in Emery's room and spilled it on the carpet.  For the record, Fun Dip does stain carpet ..

Valentines Day Celebrations

We had a great Valentines day this year.  Since Emery was in school, it was the first year of doing Valentines for her classmates.  This is all new to me - who knew the pressure haha!  The girls and I have all been sick, so I just picked up some Valentines for Emery - I chose Brave, with pencils to go with them.  I had Emery write out all of the Valentines (there are only 5 other kids, which is good) and it was a 2 day project.  She did really good with writing out all of the names of her classmates though.  Unfortunately, Emery had Croup the day of the Valentines day party at school, so she had to miss it.  Her teacher was nice enough to keep her bag of Valentines and then she handed hers out when she went back.  All of the Valentines Emery got from her classmates were written out by the parents - is that normal?  I guess if Emery had like 25 classmates, I would have helped, but I left it up to her for just the 5 that she needed.
We also made some yummy Valentines cupcakes - Emery helped me with every step, of course!
I baked them and Ivan helped the girls decorate them ..
Yummy!  Paisley demanded to be fed her cupcake - she didn't want to get her hands dirty - silly girl!
Emery ate hers carefully as to not get any of the frosting on her lips/face.

Emery Starts Preschool!

We have had a lot of changes in the Gallegos family over the last few months - I'm hoping to bring back the blog.  All of the changes have been for the good and we are excited about the positive impact the changes have made.

We were finally able to get Emery into Preschool.  She started on February 1st and goes two days a week for 2.5 hours/day.  She is going to a little Preschool at the Cottonwood Heights Rec center - there are only 6 kids total in her class, but she is loving it!  After her first day, I asked her how it was, she said it was good, but she didn't learn anything.  I have a mid-year assessment with Emery's teacher in a few weeks, so I will see how she's doing then.  I think she's fine from an academic perspective, but I really wanted her to experience Preschool and learn the social skills that she would need for Kindergarten.

After 3 days of attending school, Emery was diagnosed with Croup.  It was only her 2nd sick kid visit to the Pediatrician in her entire life.  I'm sure along with the fun and learning of Preschool, we will have the opportunity to experience all kinds of new germs and sicknesses.  Can't wait!

First Favorite Movie

Both of the girls started watching TV/movies right around when they turned 2.  When Emery first started watching movies, the first movie she would watch was Monster's Inc.  I was pregnant with Paisley and not feeling well, so we watched A LOT of Monster's Inc.

Paisley's favorite movie is Shrek.  She loves everything about it and now the girls battle it out between Paisley watching Shrek and Emery wanting to watch "her shows", ie, Phineas and Ferb.

September Recap

Paisley showing off her Elmo undies and Spiderman slippers - she's too cute!
Paisley still sucks on her index and middle finger on her right hand.  She's never really taken to a binky, but I can't get her to stop sucking on her fingers.  So, I thought I'd try to get her to take a binky to break her from sucking on her fingers.  Then, my bright plan was to take the binky.  Well, I gave her the binky and she looked at me like I was crazy and started chewing on it - yup, she's got a mouth full of teeth - what did I really think she'd do with it.  So, we are still at sucking on the fingers but every once in a while we break out the binky's just for fun.
I made home made goo one day.  The girls had a good time playing with it - surprisingly since neither of them ever like to get their hands, face or anything dirty, ever.

We headed to Boondocks one day for family fun.  We had a great time playing mini-golf and playing arcade games.

Then the girls played in the little kids area - they could climb up it and then there were slides to come down. The slides were a little steep, but Emery loved them.
After the first slide, Paisley wouldn't go down the second one - so I had to climb up into it to slide down with Paisley.

September Trip to Cali..

We made an impromptu trip to California in September.  We got to spend the entire trip with my family and it was a great trip.  Makes me really miss my family and at times, wish I lived in CA - I wish I could get all of my family to move to UT so I could have the best of both worlds.

After a long day of travelling, the girls took naps as we drove to our hotel..

Cute little Paisley giving her cousin Austyn a kiss

We drove Makayla home and she had to squeeze between the two carseats in a tiny car - good thing she's skinny!
Great Great Grandma Ruth, Emery and Paisley - I sure love all of these beautiful women!
The girls and I with my sister Michelle and baby Austyn
5 Generations - with Great Grandma Ruth and Grandma Marge
Then, we were off to the happiest place on earth - Disneyland!!  Ivan is not a fan of Disneyland at all, but I've convinced him to go at least once a year.  To be honest, I'm not a fan either, but it makes the girls so happy that I couldn't imagine not taking them.

We braved it with 1 pre-teen, 2 four year old's, 2 two year old's and a 1 year old.  Along with myself, my sister, two of my cousins and Ivan.  Ivan sure was a trooper to go with all of the girls and kids.  We had an awesome time and I hope we can all go together again next year.

Below:  Makayla, Austyn, Paisley, Savannah, Brandon and Emery

We spent the day with two double strollers and one single stroller - I think all of the kids took turns in all of the strollers and had different stroller partners at any given time.  It worked out perfectly!
Emery and Ivan in line for Splash Mountain - Emery is a dare devil!  She will also let Ivan talk her into just about anything.  She said the ride was "ok" but that she wouldn't want to go again.
By the end of the night, after 10 hours at Disneyland, Paisley was still as happy as could be ..
 Austyn was out ..
 as was Savannaha ..
The next day, all of the kids and adults got together at our hotel room.  The kids swam in the pool for about two hours and had lunch.  Next, the girls took a two hour bath and had a great time ..

Then they cuddled in bed and watched some cartoons together
Then off to Grandma Peggy's we went - the kids played together so well the entire trip
 Grandma Peggy and Paisley
Brandon was a little wore out by this point (along with all of the kids - and adults too)
 Aunt Summer and baby Austyn
 Ivan and the kids ..

Before leaving, Emery spent some time showing Grandma Peggy how to play a golf game on Ivan's phone
That's the end of our trip .... we then flew home, spent a day recovering and then off to work and reality it was.  It was great to spend several days with my little family and all of my extended family.  Can't wait to do it again!
