First Favorite Movie

Both of the girls started watching TV/movies right around when they turned 2.  When Emery first started watching movies, the first movie she would watch was Monster's Inc.  I was pregnant with Paisley and not feeling well, so we watched A LOT of Monster's Inc.

Paisley's favorite movie is Shrek.  She loves everything about it and now the girls battle it out between Paisley watching Shrek and Emery wanting to watch "her shows", ie, Phineas and Ferb.

September Recap

Paisley showing off her Elmo undies and Spiderman slippers - she's too cute!
Paisley still sucks on her index and middle finger on her right hand.  She's never really taken to a binky, but I can't get her to stop sucking on her fingers.  So, I thought I'd try to get her to take a binky to break her from sucking on her fingers.  Then, my bright plan was to take the binky.  Well, I gave her the binky and she looked at me like I was crazy and started chewing on it - yup, she's got a mouth full of teeth - what did I really think she'd do with it.  So, we are still at sucking on the fingers but every once in a while we break out the binky's just for fun.
I made home made goo one day.  The girls had a good time playing with it - surprisingly since neither of them ever like to get their hands, face or anything dirty, ever.

We headed to Boondocks one day for family fun.  We had a great time playing mini-golf and playing arcade games.

Then the girls played in the little kids area - they could climb up it and then there were slides to come down. The slides were a little steep, but Emery loved them.
After the first slide, Paisley wouldn't go down the second one - so I had to climb up into it to slide down with Paisley.

September Trip to Cali..

We made an impromptu trip to California in September.  We got to spend the entire trip with my family and it was a great trip.  Makes me really miss my family and at times, wish I lived in CA - I wish I could get all of my family to move to UT so I could have the best of both worlds.

After a long day of travelling, the girls took naps as we drove to our hotel..

Cute little Paisley giving her cousin Austyn a kiss

We drove Makayla home and she had to squeeze between the two carseats in a tiny car - good thing she's skinny!
Great Great Grandma Ruth, Emery and Paisley - I sure love all of these beautiful women!
The girls and I with my sister Michelle and baby Austyn
5 Generations - with Great Grandma Ruth and Grandma Marge
Then, we were off to the happiest place on earth - Disneyland!!  Ivan is not a fan of Disneyland at all, but I've convinced him to go at least once a year.  To be honest, I'm not a fan either, but it makes the girls so happy that I couldn't imagine not taking them.

We braved it with 1 pre-teen, 2 four year old's, 2 two year old's and a 1 year old.  Along with myself, my sister, two of my cousins and Ivan.  Ivan sure was a trooper to go with all of the girls and kids.  We had an awesome time and I hope we can all go together again next year.

Below:  Makayla, Austyn, Paisley, Savannah, Brandon and Emery

We spent the day with two double strollers and one single stroller - I think all of the kids took turns in all of the strollers and had different stroller partners at any given time.  It worked out perfectly!
Emery and Ivan in line for Splash Mountain - Emery is a dare devil!  She will also let Ivan talk her into just about anything.  She said the ride was "ok" but that she wouldn't want to go again.
By the end of the night, after 10 hours at Disneyland, Paisley was still as happy as could be ..
 Austyn was out ..
 as was Savannaha ..
The next day, all of the kids and adults got together at our hotel room.  The kids swam in the pool for about two hours and had lunch.  Next, the girls took a two hour bath and had a great time ..

Then they cuddled in bed and watched some cartoons together
Then off to Grandma Peggy's we went - the kids played together so well the entire trip
 Grandma Peggy and Paisley
Brandon was a little wore out by this point (along with all of the kids - and adults too)
 Aunt Summer and baby Austyn
 Ivan and the kids ..

Before leaving, Emery spent some time showing Grandma Peggy how to play a golf game on Ivan's phone
That's the end of our trip .... we then flew home, spent a day recovering and then off to work and reality it was.  It was great to spend several days with my little family and all of my extended family.  Can't wait to do it again!

Sleepy Paisley

I got home from work one night last week around 7:30p.  The girls and I were sitting at the table eating dinner (yes, dinner at 7:30p and it was McDonald's - oh well) and Paisley was already sucking her fingers, acting tired.  She normally goes to bed between 9-9:30p, so I just thought she was tired early.  About 30 minutes later, she was D.O.N.E so I got her ready for bed and put her down.  Shortly after that, I was making coffee for the next morning and saw a little white pill sitting on the kitchen counter.  I quickly look for the baggie of pills that I had and there were only 5 pills in the bag - I had left 10 of them.  I start freaking out on Ivan, asking him what happened to the rest of the pills.  He tells me that Paisley got into them and he helped her clean them up.  Ivan had no idea what the pills were, or how many were in the bag to begin with! Paisley was messing with the pills at least 2 hours before this happened.  So, I freak out, start googling poison control and tell them what happened.

Well, here's the beginning of the story.  I've been having trouble sleeping - I go through periods where I sleep good on my own, and then periods where I need help with sleep.  I've tried a lot of different things and my sleep aid of choice has been 2 Benadryl - every night.  Some friends at work have been talking to me about trying melatonin, so a friend gave me some, like 15 to try for a few nights.  I brought them home in a baggie and had them in the kitchen - well, Paisley got into them.  So, by the time I realized what had happened, there were about 10 melatonin missing.  I call poison control, I'm about a level 15 stress level, the guy on the phone is at a negative 15 stress level and just tells me not to worry and everything will be fine.  I wasn't quite sure whether or not to believe him.  So, I make a post on my baby board to get feedback from other mommies.  Well, it turns out 30 mg of melatonin for a 2 yr old is OK.  And, Paisley was still up the next morning at 8:30a, right on the dot.  So, a very scary moment for this mama, but luckily, it all turned out OK.  I learned my lesson on keeping pills in locked bottles, and Ivan learned his lesson to find out how many pills are missing and what they are if Paisley gets into them again (he damn well better have learned this lesson!).

Paisley is Potty Trained!

The time has come, we were forced to potty train Paisley.  Grandma Lola has been working with Paisley on going potty on the toilet for probably 6 months or so.  Paisley started showing signs at our house that she wanted to potty train maybe a month ago.  I wasn't ready.  I remember with Emery, we tried potty training her just before she turned 2 and it was a disaster.  More so because I wasn't ready for the work and the mess.  So, with Emery, we waited 3 months, then I was ready and I think Emery was more ready and then it was done in just a couple of days.

Back to Paisley.  She's always been a fan of taking off her clothes, changing clothes a million times a day and running around naked.  We spent most of Saturday hanging out around the house.  So, Paisley took it upon her self to become potty trained.  In the morning, she kept running to the toilet, saying potty, taking her diaper off and going to the bathroom on the toilet.  After about an hour, I realized I had no choice and dug out some 2T undies for her.

So, the day went with us going to the toilet several times an hour, all on Paisley's demands.  I didn't remind her at all.  At one point, I took her to the bathroom, she didn't go pee so I took her off the toilet and left the bathroom.  She then shut the bathroom door and was in there for a few minutes.  Luckily, I went to check on her (assuming she was getting into something and making a mess) and she was standing in the bathroom saying, "poop, poop".  I looked at her bum and sure enough, she was standing there pooping!  I put her on the potty, she did her thing and we went on with the day.

Around 7p, I needed to go to Target to do grocery shopping.  I really didn't want to deal with the mess of her peeing her pants, but figured I would just go for it.  So, I threw a change of clothes in my purse, had Paisley go potty and off we went, with her in undies!  We were at Target for an hour and no accidents!  I couldn't believe it.

So today, Paisley was in undies all day, except for nap time and bed time.  She did have one accident, but it was standing right at the bathroom door and I was in the bathroom and had the door shut.  So, I blame that one on me and not her.  So, I'd say Paisley is potty trained - just before turning 2 - where did my baby go?? I suppose I should return the large box of diapers I just bought from Target right?

Short Term Memory Loss

Emery's new thing is to blame stuff on her "short term memory loss".  For example, after I asked her several times to go potty and brush her teeth before bed tonight, I finally told her she wasn't getting a story because she didn't listen to me.  Her response?  "Mom, it's not my fault, I have short term memory loss".  Really, where does she come up with these things?

August Happenings

The month of August was busy, busy, busy as always.  Just a quick post to show off my cute little family and some of the fun we had.

I'm still in full on baking mode - I love baking.  I really wish I could become a full time baker - ha!  maybe one day, like after I retire?  Anyway, the cute girls are patiently waiting at the oven for the cookies to be finished..
There was an "end of summer" carnival put on by Sandy City and we had a good time.  There were tons of bouncy houses, a little train ride and music.  And, it was all free - who can beat that?

Paisley, well, just being Paisley.  She wants to do everything Emery does, but puts her own spin on it.  She's got Emery's shin guards for soccer on, and Emery's socks.  Notice though, she has a shin guard on her foot and her hand, and a sock on her foot, and her hand - crazy girl!
We were only able to get in one camping trip this year (I was devastated, not!) but we did go up into the canyons for a few hours for dinner and playing.  The kids had a great time as always and we had great food!

I took the girls to the park and they got to just run around.  It's so fun now that they are able to really play together.  It does scare me sometimes that Paisley tries to do every single thing that Emery does, but she hasn't had any major injuries yet ..

I went to Babies R Us to get a baby shower gift for my girlfriend and ended up buying $80 worth of stuff for my kids.  I swear, that store is bad news for me.  Anyway, they had these robes on clearance for $7.00 each - who can beat that?  And, they are really good quality.  So, now we have the added work after bath time of putting the robes on, then taking them off, then putting them back on - it's never ending.  The girls love them though and they look so dang cute in them.
Emery convinced me to go to Burger King - I'm eat a lot of fast food but I've never been a fan of Burger King.  So, I went to Del Taco for myself and then Burger King for the girls.  We got home and the girls didn't eat anything, but they loved the crowns.
Paisley in action - climbing onto the nightstand in our room ..
And then deciding that it would be a good idea to put a chair on top of the dining room table to sit on.  This girl!!
